What is Slinkachu?
The simplest way to describe Slinkachu's photography is that it's made from mini figurines and models. He can be described as a miniaturing artist, who makes art out of mini objects. A lot of his work is like propaganda. Propaganda is trying to get some sort of message across to people. His objective is for people to be aware of their surroundings, after he takes the image (the scene of action and close up) he leaves the tiny people and objects as if they belong there. For example if you are walking down a street there could be a miniature person sat somewhere 'watching' you and you wouldn't even know. He makes it seem as if the mini people are lonely, unnoticed and abandoned.

who is slinkachu?
Slinkachu is a street artist, that uses everyday objects and mini figurines to create pictures. His small people are like a never ending family that has the biggest meaning ever imaginable. Once Slinkachu, left a man standing next to a cash machine and it stayed there for three months untouched. That proves how lost and unpredictable us humans are. It is as if the characters are invisible, even though they are stood right there. Glued to the ground. Unable to move.

Out of all of the pictures I've seen of Slinkachu's, I think that this is my favourite one. I think that this picture represents how people of the 21st century practically LIVE in McDonalds, and I have to say, he is 100% correct. The photograph shows a mini figurine walking into a burger box from McDonalds as if it's it's home and I really like the message behind his idea.
Dislike
Now, this picture. I definitely don't like. This isn't because of the rat, I just think that to me this photograph has no meaning other than a rat holding a mini figurine. Other people might argue, like the person sat next to me right now. What meaning could a rat possibly have? The amount of people that get scammed on the streets? Is that really a big meaning? No I don't think so either.

This is my favorite photograph because, I think his idea of using a pumpkin is very good, I also find the picture pretty cool because it shows me how people work as families to make Halloween special. The picture also inspires me for Halloween and makes me excited for it.

Apple - with a whole.
Blu-tack.

A table for the apple tp rest on.
Camera.
After collecting the required equipment I made the picture. Then; I set my focus point on the mini figurine, my aperture on 4.6 and perfect exposure. Taken in man made light.

perfection
This is a good photograph for a first shoot because the focus point is on the right spot and it shows a clear image, however, the room was too dark and you could see the blue-tack which is distracting from the actual image. The exposure could be higher so that the photograph would look brighter and more defined. This image shows a figurine axing a hole in an apple, conveying what people do for food.
cringe
I think that this is my worst image because the photograph has camera shake making the image unclear to look at. However the focus point was right along with the depth of field and exposure. To avoid this I will try to place the camera on a steady surface e.g a table or a stand.
shoot two

'Let me dig that colourful hole'
Equipment:
Mini figurine.
Paint pallet.
Bright coloured paint.
Water.
Table.
Paint brush.
Blu-tack.
Camera.
When I have gathered my needed equipment and created the image I set my cameras aperture to 4.6 blurring the background, perfect exposure and focus point on the mini figurine. Taken in man made light.

From shot two I think that this is my best shoot because in this photograph the dripping paint grabs your attention along with the bright colours. Photography wise, the focus point, exposure and aperture are correct. Although I think that a different setting for it would be better. For example, outside in the grass, it would give the impression of an outside worker. The swirled up colours give a great affect because then the viewer of the photograph is instantly drawn to the image.
cringe
This would be my worst shoot, this is because of the camera shake, as I said before the colours add a great effect but the camera shake makes the image look bad and unprofessional. Avoiding camera shake is the most frustrating part of photography.

'Work thirsty'
Equipment:
Mini Figurine.
Blu-tack.
Sink.
Water.
Camera
After I have collected all of my equipment and set up my picture, I tried out different angles to see which one was best. The aperture has to be 4.6, perfect exposure and focus point on the figurine. Taken in man made light.

PERFECTION
I like this photograph because the focus point is correct, the aperture is also correct. I think that this image represents how people in different parts of the world have to work for just one sip of water even though there is plenty of it, you just have to find it. I think that this image could send this message across to people.
cringe
This image has the right focus point, exposure and aperture but the one thing that I have been struggling with is losing the camera shake, but this is because I was at a hard angle, so controlling the camera was more difficult.
Shoot four
'Photography is like a job'
Plan
Mini figurine.

For shoot four, the image represents that photography isn't just a joke its also a job. The aperture was 4.6, perfect exposure and the focus point on the figurine. Taken in man made light.

perfection
This is my best shoot so far because, the aperture is correct, exposure and focus point. This image shows how photography means work because, photography isn't easy. However, there is one minor problem I have been coming across , using less blue-tack, which I find distracting. I will try my best to use less by using something to cut it in to smaller pieces.
cringe
This image is my least favorite from this shoot because it has a slight camera shake making the image unclear, however the focus point, exposure and depth of field are correct. If the camera shake was removed then this could become a better photograph.

This is my best shoot because the figurine and fork is in focus. The aperture, focus point and exposure is correct. I also experimented with white balance and used the cloudy setting.
The tittle of this photograph ~
'Forks and spoons may hurt me, but the flash will never blind me'
~ Indicates that forks and spoons are not only used for eating, they can be used for other things, harmful things. The blinding flash comes from the sunlight reflecting off the metal.

cringe
This is the worst one because the background is all over the place and the spoon was in the way of the camera. Maybe if I used a different background like tears or dripping water then that wouldn't have been a problem.

This is my best photograph from shoot six because everything in the photograph is correct however I would change the white balance. The shadow from the toy car also adds to the effect and contrast of the photograph.
cringe
This is my worst photograph in this shoot because of the camera shake making the photograph look pixelated, however, the colours are very vibrant.

Plan
1 Figurine
1 Handfull of sand

After laying out my setting, with a mountain of sand and a figurine that looks as if he's digging a hole, I set the aperture to 4.6 the focus point changed on each take to see which one will be best.

Perfection
I like this photograph because everything in this picture is focused and clear, especially the sand, I think the sand adds to the effect and you can see the individual particles clearly which gives it a realistic affect.
cringe
This is my worst because, the focus point was correct however the angle was incorrect because the mountain of sand was fully out of focus, making the image look unappealing, but if I changed the depth of field and focus point maybe the photograph would be at a better standard.
shoot eight
'Help me?'

Scrunched up newspaper
Crisps

I set up the picture to what I found acceptable. Then I set the aperture to 4.6 the focus point on the figurine.

perfection
On shoot eight I was focusing on the texture of things and the contrast between the two textures, so I used crisp to show the rough, sharp, yet still smooth at the same texture alongside the crumpled up newspaper, I like this photograph because the mini slinkachu gives the affect of innocence, even though the background is a mixture of roughness and smoothness. The camera settings are correct and the background of the newspaper is slightly blurred showing clear use of depth of field.
shoot nine
'Stranded'
Plan
1 figurine
Puddle
String
4 large buttons
2 small buttons
Blu-tack
Camera
I started of by attaching 4 large buttons together with string. Then I stuck a figurine on top and placed it all in a puddle. After I put 2 small buttons near it. I set the aperture to 4.6 and the focus point on the figurine. The exposure was not perfect it was slightly lower to give a gloomy affect.

Perfection
I really enjoyed capturing this shoot because it involved creativity and lots of thinking, this photograph shows a woman drifting away, stranded with no one to help her. In the background of the photograph you can see the wet gravel, with light shining against it giving it a gentle alarming feeling.
Cringe
This would be my worst shoot because it has a small camera shake however the angle setting and camera details are correct.
shoot ten
'Money means war!'
Plan
1 figurine - preferably with a hammer
1 Damaged coin
Steady surface
Blu-tack
Camera
This shoot started with me damaging a two pence coin. Then laying out the image as displayed below. Finally setting the aperture, exposure and focus point. However in this shoot I had a go using white balance.

perfection
This would be the best shoot so far because the image shows two mini figurines sharing a one piece coin influencing the title 'Sharing Is Caring'. If I was given the chance to change something then I would make sure to use less blu-tack and have a different backround maybe something like a big crowd of people or a charity shop indicating the little wealth we have remaining.
The Aperture and Exposure are correct, however, the figurine with the orange jacket is more out of focus than the other.

creating the magic
perfection
This is my final shoot, I think this is a really good shoot, it involved a lot of creativity and work. I made the cigarette house over a long period of time, with colours that mirror a cigarette, I rolled them up and dipped the tip in black ink to give it a burning effect, then I stuffed the tip with black wool to make it seem as if its already finished burning. In this shoot I wanted to show how smoking effects things, so I used a background of flames to show how smoking can cause house fires. I made the house out of fake cigarettes because a lot of people smoke inside of houses. In the center of the picture there's a little girl to represent how adults smoke around kids.
Evaluation
Overall, I think slinkachu was a good starting point for photography, it allowed me to get used to camera controls, angles and different aspects of photography. I also enjoyed making miniature objects for the mini people , which strengthened each shoot. However, I didn't like using blu-tac, it was difficult to get small amounts of it in order for it not to be visible. I think this unit really tested my skills, I believe it was a really great and strong way to begin photography.
